Each year the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod sponsors its annual national juried pastel exhibition, "For Pastels Only on Cape Cod 2014," at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Old Main Street in South Yarmouth, MA. Since our founding in the mid 1990s, we have put a lot of stock into this annual exhibition and it always includes the best in pastel from artists across the country.
The awards presented at our Opening Reception on June 21 include a $1,000 Best of Show, along with many cash and merchandise awards.
This year's jurors of selection are Barbara Courtney Jaenicke of Georgia and Stan Sperlak of New Jersey, both of whom are signature members of the Pastel Society of America. We are honored to have these two very talented artists evaluate the submissions. Barbara Courtnery Jaenicke, who was on hand for the Awards Presentation, served as our FPO 2014 Judge of Awards and presented two master workshops on Cape Cod during June.
Please check our Exhibitions page for more information.
Through its 2014 Scholarship Awards Program, PPSCC recently honored four aspiring Cape Cod high school artists: Eddie Calle-Huerta of Dennis-Yarmouth High School, Julia Corbett of Barnstable High School, Amy Darbyshire of Sturgis Charter Public School and Molly Pollock of Nantucket High School.
Each will receive a scholarship of $500 in the form of a gift certificate for the purchase of art supplies, a set of artist-grade pastels and the opportunity to exhibit a work of art at the PPSCC Annual Members Show in the fall of 2014.
To learn more about these scholarship recipients, please click here. Our thanks to PPPSCC Scholarship Coordinator Elinor Freedman.
Please check back later this Summer to see the upcoming workshops.

There are many opportunities to become more involved with PPSCC. The most direct way is to become a member of our board of directors. There are a few key openings now as some people are stepping down, and there will be more soon. We hope that some of you, our members, will step forward to assume the positions we need filled to keep us going. Remember, this is a volunteer run organization and we can't operate successfully without your help!
