Signature Members' Show in April
This year's biennial Signature Show will be held at the Cape Museum of Art
in Dennis between April 18th and the 14th of June. An opening reception will be
held on Friday, April 17th, 5:30 to 7:30, to which all PPSCC members are invited to attend. The
Museum has generously offered to host the Show which was last held there 6 years
ago. Each Signature member is invited to submit up to 3 pieces to the show. New
this year, exhibitors' work will be juried in by the curator of the Museum who
will, additionally, be making a Signature award for a work of excellence.
"Beat the Winter Blahs" workshops, 2009
We will have lots of opportunities to learn and paint together in the upcoming months.
Our "Beat the Winter Blahs" schedule is in place, and this year we're introducing beginner Pastel Classes.

PPSCC Announces First Scholarship
For the first time, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod is proud to announce that we have set aside monies to fund a scholarship. The award has been offered to a current high school senior who has completed, or is in the process of completing, the School-to-Careers Art Internship Program through the Cape Cod Museum of Art. This $500 cash award is designated for the purchase of art supplies for the recipient's first year in college or art school. There are 35 students vying for the PPSCC award this year. We look forward to their submissions.
Our jury panel was chosen from PPSCC members attending the January PPSCC meeting.
Join us at the ArtWork Exhibition Reception, where the PPSCC Scholarship will be awarded at CCMA on May 14, 2009!
Going to IAPS Conference in Albuquerque?
A few PPSCC members from the Cape will be going out to the IAPS Convention? check out their website and join us for 4 days of purely pastel.

"For Pastels Only on Cape Cod" scheduled for 2010.
"For Pastels Only on Cape Cod" will not be held in 2009. Instead, we will take this time to reorganize and refresh the exhibition in order to present an even more exciting show.
We hope to have a new venue, new dates and more prizes when "For Pastels Only on Cape Cod" returns in 2010!

As the warmer weather approaches Betsy Cook is getting ready to paint outdoors and will be inviting PPSCC members to join her.

Volunteer Positions Open: Can You Help?
PPSCC needs volunteers to assume four positions starting November, 2009:
- Membership Chairperson: receives & records checks, maintains members' rosters

Membership Assistant: maintains secondary roster, mails membership cards Candidates for Membership positions must have knowledge of Word & database programs.
- Treasurer: receives and disperses funds, prepares monthly financial reports, files PPSCC tax reports
Candidates for Treasurer must have computer skills, and knowledge of Quicken program. PPSCC will provide the Treasurer with computer software, laser jet printer, personal support and training for initial 4 weeks.
- Workshop Coordinator: This is a great time to step in as Workshop Coordinator for 2010 as everything is lined up. You'll take registration for the "Beat the Winter Blahs" workshops, communicate with instructors and participants, as well as oversee the workshops as they take place.
