M'Lou Sorrin
"Over the years I've trained my eyes to look beyond the
objects in front of me and see with a painter's eye.
Now, when I drive down a country road or a highway, I
see more than trees and land and sky. I am aware of
the myriad array of colors I'd never seen before, the
luminous effect of light and temperature on everything
around me, and I wonder how I would go about capturing
that moment in time. This is both an emotional
response and an intellectual process. As an artist it
is my job to work with both facets to create a
painting which will touch the person who views it."
M'Lou Sorrin has exhibited in numerous one and
two-person shows as well as in national and
international exhibitions and has received many
awards for her paintings. Her works are in private
collections across the country as well as in the
Vietnam Veteran's Art Museum in Chicago and the
Vietnam Women's Memorial Foundation in Washington,
D.C.
M'Lou is also a writer and poet. Her poetry was
included in Visions of War/Dreams of Peace published
by Warner Books and her writing and art appear in
Vietnam--Reflexes and Reflections published by Harry
Abrams.
