Sarah Fielding-Gunn
I always wanted to be an artist when I grew up!
As a child I spent many happy hours coloring, drawing, dreaming!
Give me crayons, pencils, or watercolors and I would entertain myself
endlessly.
In 1995 I discovered the richness and luminosity that
can be accomplished using pastels. I passionately applied myself to
learning all there is to know about this medium. My understanding
of the pastel medium was influenced and encouraged by Jane Lincoln,
Rosalie Nadeau, Lois Griffel, and Anne Heywood.
I am fascinated by light on anything. I am tempted and moved to
paint people, places and things, looking for those high contrast
situations or ethereal refractions of light that speak of the inner
things which touch us all.
I am equally drawn to all media, moving with comfort from oils
to water media, pastels to colored pencils or graphite,
preferring to let my subject dictate which form it will take.
I am a Signature Member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod,
an Artist Member of Cape Cod Art Association, a member of the
Creative Arts Center, the Portsmouth Arts Guild and an
original member of the artist group 21 in Truro.
I am the Founder of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and
was its President until 2002.
My work is exhibited by appointment at my home (774 836 2192).
