Shizue Cooper has won numerous awards for her pastel and watercolor paintings. Though self-taught, she has participated in workshops and demonstrations with noted artists, including: Daniel Greene, Paul Leveille, Diana Willis, Rosalie Nadeau, Anne Heywood, Angela D'Aleo, John Stobart, William Davis, Joe McGurl, Don Demers, Tony Couch and Frank Webb.

I'm a representational artist, but I always look for abstract shapes and movement when painting realism in still life and landscapes. I incorporate this in the background of my portraits while I try to achieve the subject(s) true likeness.
