The process of painting allows me to lose myself in my work while the immediacy of pastels offer a palette for every mood and season. I push myself to capture the likeness or sense I feel from the landscape as well as to create the up close excitement of color and shape on the surface of my paper. I am driven to capture light and mood, as well as to create a sense of time and space. Starting with my observations of the landscape around me, I strive to let simplified strokes of color and the texture of the pastel create the path into each scene and moment in time.
